Have you filed your taxes yet? It’s only late February, of course you still have time. But, perhaps you’re wondering what to do with the chunky refund you’re daydreaming of?
Since your home is your largest investment, why not focus on that a bit and put your refund right back into it? Here are some ways to make your Western Kentucky home more valuable:
1. Landscaping. Increase your curb appeal this spring with that bit of green Uncle Sam is sending you. Whether you spend some time spreading mulch in your flowerbeds or plant a few trees, either way the return will be beneficial in more ways than one!
2. Install a storm door. The few hundred dollars you’d spend purchasing and having the door installed will actually be funneled back into your bank account all year long! Storm doors are perfect for adding that extra bit of insulation where you need it most.
3. Extra mortgage payment. I know you really want to spend that tax refund on a vacation or shopping spree to beef up your spring wardrobe, but you’ll thank me later if you send a whopper of a payment to your mortgage company instead. Paying just one extra month of your mortgage each year will take years of payments and interest off the life of your loan. Think retirement!!!
So there you have it. Just 3 simple suggestions for improving the Western Kentucky investment you call home! Pick one, pick all three if you can, you’ll thank us both later – Especially when you are looking to sell and a you see the value of your Henderson area home has appreciated more than you imagined!
