There’s a huge misconception that the hottest season for house hunting is in spring. Some people even wonder if attempting to move during the winter months is worth their time. Well, yes it is! There’s no doubt that the holiday season is a chaotic one. Fraught with vacations, crazy weather and houseguests, survival is often the ultimate goal. But these things don’t keep interested buyers from searching for their Home Sweet Home. Here’s why:
Since many sellers take their homes off the market during these busy months, a dip in inventory exists. Serious buyers still need options. Keeping your home on the market increases your chances of selling just as a result of numbers! Winter buyers don’t want to be left out in the cold, pun intended, and are quicker to make decisions about their home purchases than those looking in the warmer months.
If your holiday celebration includes decorating the home with tinsel and twinkling lights, you can bet that your home just may show better with a few tasteful, let’s say that again, tasteful, decorations. A little bit of evergreen and holly berries can evoke the emotional side of the homebuyer. Help them imagine holidays they will have in your home!
Simply put, if you are hesitant to list or keep listing your Western Kentucky home because of the seasonal change, you may be doing yourself more harm than good. Come January the market will be inundated with sellers who put their moving plans on hold during the festivities. Separate yourself from the pack. Sleigh bells or sand shovels, I am happy to assist you with all your home buying and selling needs! Happy Holidays!
